1. Seeding technology. When the seeds are mature from August to September, plump and fully mature lotus seeds should be selected. It is best to use lotus seeds harvested within 1-2 years or stored at low temperature. Spring sowing. The peel of lotus seed is hard and difficult to germinate. Before sowing, grind the peel of one end of the seed, and then soak the seed in clean water. The water temperature is 20-25t, change the water 1-3 times a day, and germinate after 3-5 days. After germination, the seeds were sown, and the seedlings were directly cultivated when 2-3cm long roots grew in 4-6 days. Sowing can be carried out in small flowerpots, water tanks and other containers, or seedbed, or in ponds during growing season. The seedlings grow slowly and can be transplanted and flowered only after 3 years.
2. Cutting technology of lotus rhizome. The cuttings for cutting should have two vertical leaves and two lateral branches. The cuttings are carried out in the evening of late June. The cuttings are taken and cut at the same time. The lotus rhizome and lateral branches are buried in the soil for 10-15 cm. The soil is compacted and the petiole of the cuttings is straightened. The water depth is 4-6 cm.
3. Terminal bud propagation technology. When lotus seeds are transported in a long distance, they can be propagated and raised by the terminal bud (Lotus cover). For example, if a lotus pond is newly built, a large number of asexual propagation materials can also be used, which is convenient for long-distance transportation. In spring, dig out the lotus seeds and cut off the top bud with a sharp blade. Long distance transportation with sprouts, so as not to hurt the sprouting leaves on the way, to keep a certain humidity. A seedbed is set up in the protected area, and the substrate is frog stone, perlite or loose fertile bed soil. The row spacing of planting plants is 3cm x 6cm, and the depth is suitable for the buds to slightly expose the substrate surface. The ground temperature should be controlled at 20 ℃. When there are three leaves and adventitious roots growing, they will be planted.
Lotus is an aquatic plant, which can’t live without water all the time. In the early stage of growth, the water layer should be controlled at about 3cm, too deep water is not conducive to raising soil temperature. If you use tap water, you’d better put it in another jar, and then use it for a day or two. Summer is the peak period of lotus growth, the basin must not lack of water. After winter, the basin soil should be kept moist to prevent the lotus root from drying up.
The fertilizer of lotus is mainly phosphorus and potassium fertilizer, supplemented by nitrogen fertilizer. If the soil is more fertile, it is unnecessary to apply fertilizer throughout the year. Rotten cake fertilizer and chicken duck goose manure are the most ideal fertilizers. Half Liang can be applied in a small basin, and only 1-2 Liang can be applied in a large basin at most. Do not apply more fertilizer, and mix it fully with the soil. In the peak growth period, if the leaves are yellow and thin, you can mix 0.5g urea in the mud, rub it into about 10g balls, apply one grain in each pot, and apply it to the soil in the middle of the basin. The effect will be effective in 7 days.
After winter, the basin can be placed indoors or buried under the permafrost. In addition to the permafrost, the area north of the Yellow River should also be covered with agricultural film, and the basin soil should be kept moist throughout the winter.
